The MMU–France International Pathway Programme reflects MMU’s commitment to providing students with a globally oriented learning experience through strategic international collaboration.

As part of the programme, students will first undergo a two-month Intensive French Language Programme at Kolej MARA Seremban, followed by a 10-month Foundation programme in France. They will subsequently complete the first two years of their engineering studies in France before returning to MMU to finish the remaining two years of their Bachelor of Engineering programme. Upon graduation, students will receive dual recognition through the French Bachelor Universitaire de Technologie (BUT) qualification and MMU’s Bachelor of Engineering degree, enhancing their global employability and career prospects.

On 14 July 2026, MMU hosted a delegation from Hamzanwadi University led by its Rector, Dr. Hj. Sitti Rohmi Djalillah. The delegation was received by Prof. Ts. The four-day event showcased 761 Final Year Projects across Data Science, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, Information Systems, and Game Development, highlighting the creativity, technical expertise, and innovative solutions developed by FCI students.

Throughout the event, the alumni engaged with students by visiting project booths, evaluating project ideas, and participating in interactive discussions and question-and-answer sessions. Drawing on their industry experience, they provided constructive feedback and practical insights into current technology trends, workplace expectations, and professional best practices, enabling students to better understand how their academic knowledge can be applied in real-world settings.

The alumni who contributed to the programme were Mr. Yuwanthiran Sukalingam, Director of Information Security at Mindvalley; Mr. Hariyshwaran Rameash, Cybersecurity Engineer at Mindvalley; Mr. Vikines Goonasakeran, Group Head of Information Security at Access World; Ms. Elizabeth Matthew, Information Security Manager at Mindvalley; and Mr. Ian Tam Yee Yung, Consultant at O’Connor’s Engineering.

Designed to bridge academic expertise with community needs, the programme introduced practical financial literacy concepts to secondary school students, equipping them with essential knowledge and skills to make informed financial decisions as they prepare for higher education and greater financial independence.

The programme featured three interactive learning activities. The Financial Decision Walk engaged students in a Yes/No game that encouraged them to reflect on their financial habits while sparking discussions on responsible financial behaviour. The Risk and Reward Challenge demonstrated the relationship between risk, planning, and decision-making by allowing students to choose different levels of risk in exchange for varying rewards. Meanwhile, the Budget Allocation Challenge required participants to distribute a limited budget using beans before responding to unexpected life-event scenarios that tested their ability to adjust spending priorities. The session concluded with group discussions, key takeaways, and individual reflections, culminating in the development of personal financial action plans.

Post-programme assessments indicated encouraging outcomes, with participants expressing greater confidence in preparing simple budgets, a better understanding of the relationship between risk and reward in financial decision-making, and increased awareness of the 50-30-20 budgeting rule as a practical approach to managing personal finances.

In conjunction with the Education Fair 2026 at Pay Fong Middle School, FOB also collaborated with the Student Representative Office (SRO) to showcase MMU’s academic programmes and raise students’ awareness of the educational opportunities available at the University. Beyond strengthening financial literacy, the initiative provided valuable exposure to future study pathways, supporting students in making informed academic and career decisions.

Through initiatives such as KTP, FOB continues to promote financial literacy among young learners while extending the University’s expertise to the wider community, contributing to the development of informed, financially responsible, and future-ready youth.

The project was designed to bridge classroom learning with practical business experience, allowing students to develop, promote, and manage a diverse range of products, including soap flowers, hand soaps, desserts, beverages, gepuk balls, shoes, accessories, fertilisers, and other creative offerings.

Through this hands-on experience, students gained valuable exposure to various aspects of business operations, including marketing strategies, sales management, customer engagement, teamwork, and financial planning. The initiative also encouraged students to think creatively, make informed business decisions, and strengthen their entrepreneurial mindset.

Beyond achieving their business objectives, the students demonstrated a strong commitment to social responsibility by contributing 30% of the profits generated from the project to four welfare organisations, namely Rumah Kebajikan At-Taqwa, Children Cancer Association Malaysia, S.I. Animal Welfare, and Kechara Soup Kitchen.

To mark this meaningful achievement, the students, accompanied by Madam Nor Hazleza, personally visited the organisations to present the donations. The visits provided students with an opportunity to witness the impact of their contributions while gaining a deeper appreciation of the needs and challenges faced by different communities.

The project reflects the students’ ability to combine entrepreneurial learning with community engagement, while nurturing important values such as compassion, empathy, and social responsibility. It also highlights how entrepreneurship can extend beyond business success to create meaningful contributions to society.

Throughout the project, students went through the entire engineering design process, from concept development and fabrication to testing and validation, while integrating features such as onboard cameras, wireless communication and intelligent control systems. During the competition, the robots navigated a specially designed pipeline test platform that simulated real industrial conditions with bends, inclines and obstacles.

The prototypes were evaluated based on engineering design, innovation, technical performance, functionality and practicality by a panel comprising Mr. Ethan Lim Zhi Hao, Chief Executive Officer of RoboForce PLT, Mr. Cavin Tong Kai Wen, Chief Technology Officer of RoboForce PLT, both FET alumni, together with Dr. Lim Boon Kian and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Liew Kia Wai. Outstanding teams were recognised with custom-designed 3D-printed trophies and certificates for their achievements.

The Capstone Design Project provided students with valuable hands-on experience in developing solutions for real industry challenges while strengthening skills in teamwork, project management, communication and problem-solving. The participation of RoboForce PLT added an industry perspective to the project, allowing students to receive constructive feedback and gain a better understanding of current engineering practices. Through initiatives such as this, MMU continues to equip future engineers with the knowledge and practical skills needed to meet the demands of Industry 4.0.

The showcase featured 50 students, comprising 29 from the BDEM programme and 21 from the BiAE programme, who presented the outcomes of projects developed throughout their final year of study. Through their poster presentations, students demonstrated their ability to apply classroom knowledge to real-world business and economic challenges while strengthening their research, analytical, and communication skills.

Projects were evaluated by a panel of academic staff based on the originality of the ideas, quality of the research, presentation skills, and practical relevance of the work. The showcase also provided students with an opportunity to engage with lecturers and peers, receive constructive feedback, and exchange ideas in an academic setting.

Speaking at the event, FOM Dean, Prof. Dr. Tan Booi Chen, congratulated the students on reaching an important milestone in their academic journey. She noted that the showcase reflected the dedication and commitment of both students and supervisors throughout the research process, while reinforcing the faculty’s emphasis on critical thinking, problem-solving, and industry-relevant learning.

Outstanding projects were recognised during the closing ceremony. In the BDEM Final Year Project category, Anas Mojumder, supervised by Dr. Kyra Law Ley Sy, received the Gold Award. Cheng Chi Hin, under the supervision of Dr. Muhammad Afif Fathullah, won the Silver Award, while Mohammed Zameel Mandayapurath, supervised by Dr. Aaron Aw, received the Bronze Award.

In the BiAE Research Project category, Ilya Irwan Sanei, supervised by Dr. Noor Shahaliza Othman, received the Gold Award. The Silver Award went to Muhammad Ali Imran Bin Khairul Anwar, also supervised by Dr. Noor Shahaliza Othman, while Lung Jun Ru, supervised by Dr. Yvonne Lee Lean Ee, received the Bronze Award. The programme was led by Dr. Muhammad Afif Fathullah with the support of Dr. Diyana Mahad, Miss Rekha Thangatorai, Dr. Aznur Hajar Abdullah, and Dr. Wan Noor Elani Wan Azizi.
