On June 28, 2024, 39 Bachelor of Digital Enterprise Management (BDEM) students from the ERP Material Management class visited the Gardenia Bread Factory, accompanied by Ts. Dr. Anusuyah Subbarao, Ms. Premylla and Dr Aaron Aw from the Faculty of Management. The field trip provided a valuable opportunity for students to see firsthand the real-world applications of their classroom learning.

During the visit, students explored the various stages of bread production, from raw material handling to packaging which is very much related to what they study in the class. They observed how theoretical concepts related to material management and production planning are implemented in a large-scale manufacturing environment.

The field trip proved to be both educational and insightful, allowing students to connect their academic studies with practical industry practices. In addition to the BDEM group, a contingent of MBA students, supervised by Dr. Nasreen Khan, joined the tour, enriching the experience with diverse perspectives.

The students thoroughly enjoyed the trip, returning home with a wealth of sweet memories. Each participant received a goodie bag from Gardenia, adding a delightful touch to their educational experience. The visit not only enriched their understanding of bread production but also left them with cherished moments and tangible reminders of a successful and enjoyable field trip.

On April 24, 2024, Bachelor Digital Enterprise Management (BDEM) students from the Faculty of Management embarked on a tech expedition to the Finexus Cloud Data Centre in Cyberjaya. This insightful visit, led by Ts. Dr. Anusuyah Subbarao as part of the Digital Transformation Strategy subject, provided students with a unique opportunity to explore advanced data management practices.

The expedition was guided by Mr.Ho Fook Chua, IT Operation Head at Finexus, who led the program and offered an in-depth tour of their state-of-the-art data center. The Finexus Cloud Data Centre, located at Finexus Towers, is renowned for its rigorous certifications, including Tier III, PCI DSS Level 1, and BNM RMiT CTRAG. These certifications underscore the facility’s commitment to exceptional security standards, particularly for the secure seven-year storage of e-invoicing data.

During the visit, Ho Fook Chua shared valuable insights into the operations and security measures of the data center, emphasizing its capability to handle national and international payment processing for prominent platforms such as DuitNow, Mastercard, Visa, Alipay+, and UnionPay.

This expedition not only enhanced students’ understanding of digital transformation but also strengthened the bond between 91ºÚÁÏ and Finexus, showcasing the practical applications of their studies in a real-world context.

Prof. Ts. Dr. Saravanan Muthaiyah, our academic member from the Faculty of Management (FOM) was invited to take part and share his expertise in The Annual Global Week from 13 October until 20 October 2023 in India. Organised by Chitkara University, Punjab Campus, this event served as a great platform for global engagement through the internationalising learning experiences of its students from invited international professors from countries across the globe. The Global week had 20+ International Faculty from 14 universities representing 10 countries.

Fostering cross-cultural competence and knowledge sharing among international visiting professors often enables fruitful collaborative research programmes. The visiting professors collaborated on teaching, research and knowledge transfer activities throughout this event. Kudos to Prof. Ts. Dr Saravanan for this international recognition!

Esteemed educators from 91ºÚÁÏ (MMU)  collaborated with Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences (SIMATS) in Chennai, India, recently. A total of five academic staff namely Ts. Dr. Anusuyah Subbarao from the Faculty of Management (FOM), Ms. Nur Iylia Syafiqah Binti Abdul Malik from the Faculty of Business  (FOB), Dr. Siow Chun Lim from the Faculty of Engineering (FOE), Dr. Abdullah Al Mamun Sarwar (FOM), and Dr. Liew Tze Wei (FOB), joined forces with SIMATS and other universities, injecting fresh perspectives into classrooms.

The collaboration, facilitated by MMU’s International Collaboration and Engagement (ICE) unit, saw the exchange of knowledge, expertise, and experiences between these esteemed educators. During their stay, the lecturers engaged in co-teaching programmes, energising students with dynamic teaching methods. This collaboration resulted in a vibrant academic environment, leaving a lasting impression on SIMATS’ educational landscape. The partnership highlights the value of global collaborations in shaping education and fostering future leaders.

As a testament to the success of this partnership, both MMU and SIMATS express their commitment to continuing such initiatives. The shared goal is to create a legacy of educational excellence, inspiring students and educators alike, while strengthening international ties and promoting a global perspective within the academic community.
