On 6 April 2026, the Faculty of Business (FOB), in collaboration with the Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC), organised an Inspirational Sharing Session (I3) titled “Efficient Redefined – Generative AI in Business Transformation” at the Melaka campus. The session featured industry expert Norlela Tukiban from Telekom Malaysia (TM), who shared insights from over 20 years of experience in finance and business transformation, particularly in ERP, RPA, CLM, and AI driven initiatives. A key message highlighted was that AI is no longer the future but is already shaping how businesses operate today.

Participants were taken through the evolution of technology, from manual processes to digital systems, automation, and now to Generative and Agentic AI capable of creating, recommending, and executing tasks autonomously. Norlela emphasised that organisations adopting AI early are gaining a competitive edge, as it enhances efficiency, improves accuracy, speeds up decision making, and strengthens overall business performance. The session also touched on different types of AI, including RPA, Machine Learning, Generative AI, and Agentic AI, while addressing real world challenges such as poor data quality, resistance to change, skill gaps, and system integration issues.

The session reinforced that digital transformation is a continuous journey, not an overnight success. Students were encouraged to start small, focus on value, invest in skills development, and build strong data foundations. Looking ahead, the importance of human and AI collaboration was highlighted, with critical thinking, adaptability, data literacy, and problem solving identified as essential skills. The session concluded with a reminder that while AI will not replace humans, those who use AI effectively will have the advantage. Also present at the session were FOB Dean Dr Siti Zakiah Melatu Samsi and other faculty members.

Shelter Visit Offers Lessons in Animal Welfare and Responsibility /fob/shelter-visit-offers-lessons-in-animal-welfare-and-responsibility/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=shelter-visit-offers-lessons-in-animal-welfare-and-responsibility /fob/shelter-visit-offers-lessons-in-animal-welfare-and-responsibility/#respond Mon, 13 Apr 2026 02:27:52 +0000 /fob/?p=9850

A group of students from Melaka campus visited the MFA Animal Shelter on 14 January 2026 as part of the Fundamentals of Business Management course, coordinated by Mdm Kerk Peck Hoon. The visit exposed students to social responsibility through direct engagement with real-life issues faced by stray animals. Students also contributed donations, including dog food, rice, and canned food, in support of the shelter’s operations.

During the visit, the MFA Chairman shared the realities of animal rescue work, highlighting the time, financial commitment, and risks involved in caring for stray dogs. Students learned that many of the animals had been abandoned, injured, or traumatised, and that rebuilding their trust in humans requires sustained effort. The discussion also addressed the dangers of irresponsible waste disposal, including how sharp objects and discarded cans can cause serious harm to stray animals.

The students later spent time interacting with the dogs at the shelter, observing their cautious behaviour and gradual responses to human presence. The experience prompted moments of reflection among the students, many of whom were visibly affected. Such initiatives encourage the public to show greater compassion towards stray animals, promote environmental responsibility, and raise awareness of the importance of speaking up for those without a voice.
