We are pleased to announce that the ASEAN Data Science Explorers 2026 is still open for applications and would like to invite more young changemakers from Malaysia to join this competition. We would greatly appreciate your support in sharing this opportunity with your students, colleagues, or network, as we hope to encourage more aspiring young changemakers from Malaysia to participate in ASEAN Data Science Explorers 2026.

​This year, ASEAN DSE 2026 invites university students and recent graduates across ASEAN to join the ASEAN DSE 2026 programme on developing initiatives and data-driven solutions for regional challenges.

​As we celebrate the programme’s 10th edition, ASEAN DSE also provides a series of data analytics workshops to prepare participants and strengthen their data analytics skills before the competition.

Participants will also have the opportunity to:

 

* Enhance their data analytics skills through expert-led workshops.

* Build connections with other youth with the same interest across ASEAN.

* Represent their country at the Regional Finals in Manila, Philippines.

The event served as an interactive platform for Security Technology students to exhibit their digital posters and conduct live demonstrations of their custom-developed cybersecurity applications.

The showcase highlighted practical innovation in the software security domain, featuring a diverse range of student projects. Featured student projects focused on critical areas of cybersecurity, including a Phishing URL Detection System, a Python-Based Intrusion Detection System, a Python-Based Fraud Detection System for Financial Transaction, a Python-Based Log File Analyzer designed to detect suspicious login attempts, and etc.

The lively session drew strong engagement from the campus community, attracting more than 70 participants, including both students and university lecturers. Attendees had the opportunity to explore the digital posters, interact directly with the student developers, and view real-time system demonstrations of the defensive tools in action.

Congratulationsto all the participating Security Technology students for demonstrating exceptional technical competence and engineering resourcefulness in this showcase event!

Departing at 7:30 AM in two buses, the students were accompanied by Mr Poh Li Zhe, Mr Alvin Lim and Ms Pa Pa Min as they headed to one of the region’s most prestigious innovation exhibitions. ITEX, known for showcasing over 200 cutting-edge projects from inventors, researchers, and entrepreneurs worldwide, offered the students a unique opportunity to witness real-world innovations firsthand.

During the visit, students took on the role of evaluators, judging at least three projects using official criteria. The experience aims to sharpen their critical thinking, improve presentation skills, and inspire better project design.

A simple trip — but a big step toward real-world innovation learning.

The exhibition was organised by the Bachelor of Computer Science (Hons) in Artificial Intelligence programme, and led by Dr. Ong Lee Yeng, Dr. Goh Pey Yun, Mr. Poh Li Zhe, and Dr. Jashila Nair Mogan.

The exhibition featured 22 groups of students from various academic majors, including Information Technology and Engineering, showcasing innovative Artificial Intelligence solutions. Each project was developed with the integration of the Huawei Framework, highlighting students’ ability to apply industry-relevant technologies in real-world AI applications.

The exhibition served as a platform to demonstrate creativity, technical proficiency, and interdisciplinary collaboration among students. One outstanding group was awarded Best of the Best, with the winning team comprising Ms. Ko Shan Si, Ms. Koh Kai Xin, Ms. Lim Jia Qi and Ms. Lim Jia Shyuan.
