Description: We are proud to share that students from the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence and Engineering (FAIE) have won first prizes in both the Poster Presentation and Stage Presentation categories at the inaugural Sandisk University Symposium 2026 held in Penang recently.

In the Poster Presentation category, final-year undergraduate student Hannani Aina Hairissam presented “Multilevel Resistive Switching Behaviour in TiO₂-Based Devices for Next-Generation Neuromorphic Memory.” Guided by Prof. Ir. Dr. Chan Kah Yoong and Dr. Gregory Soon How Thien from FAIE and the Centre for Advanced Devices and Systems (CADS) under the Centre of Excellence for Robotics and Sensing Technologies (COE for RST), the project explores advanced memory device behaviour for future neuromorphic computing applications.

Meanwhile, in the Stage Presentation category, postgraduate student Tan Hui Hui presented “A Drift-Resilient Hybrid Adaptive Framework for Semiconductor Regression Test Selection.” The work, supervised by Ir. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Goh Vik Tor (FAIE, Centre for Big Data and Blockchain Technologies (CBDBT), Centre of Excellence for Advanced Cloud) and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tan Yi Fei (FAIE, Centre for Smart Systems and Automation (CSSA), Centre of Excellence for Robotics and Sensing Technologies (COE for RST)), focuses on improving the reliability and efficiency of semiconductor testing processes.

The symposium, officiated by Sandisk Senior Director of Product Development Engineering Dr. Nirbhaya Pathak and Senior Director of Product Development Engineering Mr. Chee Peng Lim, brought together undergraduate and postgraduate students from diverse academic backgrounds and institutions, including engineering, computer science, and related technology disciplines, providing a platform to showcase innovative research and ideas.

Description:
Our team from 91 recently secured the First Runner-Up (Second position) at the KRAFT 2025 Challenge, organized by KPJ Healthcare in collaboration with the Ministry of Health Malaysia held in conjunction with MIH Megatrends 2025 at Kuala Lumpur Conventional Center on 25-27 November 2025. The team was awarded RM 7,000 in prize money for their achievement. The competition focused on innovative digital-health solutions for national healthcare needs.
For this challenge, a novel digital emotional-support application was presented for addressing elderly loneliness, using augmented reality (AR)Իartificial intelligence (AI). The aim is to provide emotional companionship, support mental well-being, and help reduce loneliness-related mental health risks among seniors.
This project was a collaboration between:

Let us extend our heartfelt congratulations to Muhammad Isma Zarif bin Mahathir, a Yayasan TM scholar and first-year student from the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence and Engineering (FAIE), who was recently honoured with the IEM Book Prize Award by The Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) in June 2025.

This prestigious award recognises students who excel academically and show strong potential in the field of engineering. As part of the award presentation, Isma was invited to IEM Headquarters in Petaling Jaya, where he had the honour of meeting Ir. Prof. Dr. Jeffrey Chiang Choong Luin, President of IEM. During the visit, he received a special engineering reference book personally signed and dedicated by the President as a token of recognition for his achievements.

Isma has consistently maintained a perfect GPA of 4.00 every trimester. Beyond academics, he actively contributes to campus life, currently serving as a Programme and Activity Committee Member for the CyberFitness Club and taking on various roles in university events and initiatives.

His achievement highlights MMU’s ongoing efforts to develop student potential, as well as the important role Yayasan TM plays in supporting young talents. Isma’s journey is one that many students can look up to, and he is determined to contribute to the field of electronics engineering in the future.

A team of talented students, including two from the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence and Engineering (FAIE) at 91 (MMU), won the Best Design Award at the MazeCraze 2025 Competition, held at Universiti Malaya (UM) on 27 April 2025.
Competing under the team name M3 Navigator, the group comprised Lim Zing and Koh Ming from MMU, along with Lee Wei Ken, Wong Zhi Wen, and Lee Pei Zhe from UM.
The team distinguished themselves among 18 groups from leading institutions such as Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM), and Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), emerging as Top 4 Finalists and securing the Best Design recognition for their exceptional innovation.
MazeCraze 2025 is an robotics competition that challenges students to design and build intelligent robots capable of navigating a complex maze. The competition emphasizes innovation, critical thinking, and real-world problem-solving, while encouraging collaboration and knowledge exchange among students from various universities.
M3 Navigator’s winning robot integrated nine advanced sensors enabling it to perform multiple tasks, including obstacle avoidance, color detection, and strategic navigation across a dynamic game map. The project required the application of sophisticated algorithms and robust design strategies, reflecting the team’s high level of technical and creative competence.
This achievement is a proud moment for MMU and showcases the university’s commitment to nurturing forward-thinking engineers equipped with both technical expertise and collaborative spirit.
